The Williamson County Courthouse, completed in 1911, is the focal point of the town square. Blue Hole Park is a lagoon bordered by limestone bluffs. San Gabriel Park covers 180 acres where the North and South Forks meet, and its hike and bike trail links to Blue Hole, Chautauqua Park and Lake Georgetown.
Every year the Lighting of the Square turns on the city's lights around the Square and the county's lights on the courthouse, and they stay on each evening through January 1. Old Town and Sun City Texas
Georgetown has two historic overlay districts, Downtown and Old Town. Old Town is mostly residential, running between Downtown and Southwestern University and south to parts of 17th, 18th and 19th Streets. Sun City Texas has its own community association, which tells residents to consult its design guidelines any time they change the exterior of a home.
If you live in Sun City Texas, or your home is a designated historic landmark and the work would alter its exterior wall, decide first which roof sections you want lit. Show the reviewers the coverage you actually plan to install.

Lights on a designated historic landmark
Georgetown's development code exempts new or modified exterior lighting attached to a single-family or two-family home from a Certificate of Appropriateness, as long as the work does not alter the exterior wall of a building designated as a historic landmark. If your home is a designated landmark, ask the city's historic preservation staff before installation. Any application is yours to file, and we can provide system details for it.
Georgetown UDC Sec. 3.13.010Sun City Texas soffit lighting applications
We have installed permanent lighting in Sun City Texas. The association's design guidelines include a section on architectural soffit lighting and require an approved modification application before installation begins. You submit that application, and we can write up the planned installation for it, showing which roof sections will be lit. The association decides whether to approve it.
