TruLight vs Gemstone in Austin: Compare Your Roofline Quotes
Two permanent-lighting quotes can cover different parts of the same house. Before choosing TruLight or Gemstone for your Austin home, mark the roofline you want lit and ask each installer to price that exact layout. Then compare the light you will use most evenings, the equipment included, and who will help after installation.

Start with the view from your Austin street
Take a daylight photo from the street and mark the garage, entry, upper peaks, and side returns you want included. If your house sits on a corner, take a second photo from the side street. A front-only quote and one that wraps the visible sides are different purchases, even when their totals are close.
For a home in Austin, Round Rock, or Cedar Park, use the actual address when requesting an estimate. Roof height, separate sections, and access need to be checked at your property. Ask for the proposed track route and controller location on the same drawing, so you can compare installation scope alongside the hardware.
Compare the white light on your own exterior
TruLight uses six LEDs per node, including three dedicated warm-white LEDs. Gemstone also offers warm-white output. Ask which product generation each quote includes, then request a demonstration of that equipment. A video of another model is useful background, but it does not show exactly what will arrive at your home.
Look at warm white and brighter white separately, at the brightness you would actually use. Against stone, brick, or painted trim, decide whether you prefer a soft accent or a more visible outline. Include the entry and any back-patio area in the conversation if those are places you want to use the lights beyond the holidays.
Ask how the system fits an Austin installation
TruLight uses a 48V system. Have each installer explain the power layout for your measured roofline, including supply locations and any extra feeds. Voltage by itself does not tell you whether the proposed installation is well designed. The equipment, wire, load, and route all matter.

Bring those questions to both installers: where will the control box sit, how will connections be protected, and which weather-related problems are excluded from the warranty? A rating for one component is not a rating for the whole installation.

Ask for a short app demonstration with a specific task: keep the front of the house on a holiday pattern while the back stays warm white. TruLight supports separate zones. Have the Gemstone installer show what the quoted controller and app can do with the same layout, including schedules and changes from your phone.
